Vernier began in 2018 with a simple observation: many watch owners in Taichung were looking for a service provider they could trust with timepieces that held both monetary and personal value. We saw an opportunity to offer watch care that prioritized transparency, open communication, and meticulous workmanship.
Our founder, Chen Wei-Ting, trained in Swiss watchmaking techniques before returning to Taiwan. He established Vernier with the intention of creating a workshop environment where careful, unhurried work could take precedence over volume. From the beginning, our focus has been on building relationships with clients based on honesty about what each watch needs and clarity about what we can provide.
Over the years, we've developed relationships with component suppliers and specialty tool manufacturers who share our commitment to quality. This network allows us to source proper replacement parts and maintain the equipment necessary for precision work. We continue to invest in training and equipment upgrades, ensuring our team stays current with both traditional techniques and evolving industry standards.
Today, Vernier serves watch owners throughout central Taiwan. We handle everything from routine maintenance on daily-wear timepieces to complex restorations of vintage watches with sentimental value. Each project receives the same level of care and attention, regardless of the watch's market value or complexity.

Chen Wei-Ting
Master Watchmaker & Founder
Trained at WOSTEP in Switzerland, with fifteen years of experience in movement servicing and restoration. Chen established Vernier to provide thoughtful watch care in Taiwan.
Lin Mei-Hua
Senior Watchmaker
Specializes in vintage movement restoration with particular expertise in manual-wind calibers. Lin's careful documentation ensures each restoration preserves the watch's original character.
Wang Yi-Chen
Service Coordinator
Manages client communications and service scheduling. Wang ensures each client receives clear explanations and regular updates throughout the service process.

What Guides Our Work
Watch repair requires both technical precision and contextual judgment. A replacement part must meet exact specifications, but the decision about whether to replace that part involves understanding the watch's history, the owner's intentions, and the trade-offs between preservation and function.
We approach each timepiece with respect for the engineering and craftsmanship that went into creating it. This means taking time to understand how a particular movement was designed to function, rather than applying generic solutions. It means consulting reference materials, examining wear patterns carefully, and making decisions based on what we observe rather than assumptions.
Communication with our clients is equally important. We explain what we find during inspection, outline available options, and provide clear recommendations based on our assessment. If a watch needs more extensive work than initially anticipated, we discuss the reasons and obtain approval before proceeding.
